Waiver Of Liability And Hold Harmless Agreement
The Waiver of Liability is a document designed to inform participants of the risks associated with a field trip. It may stand up in a court of law although its usefulness and the likelihood that it will be supported is dependent, in part, on how carefully the campus (field trip supervisor) has completed the identification of the risks involved. It must be signed by the participant acknowledging their understanding of the risks. It is much more effective in a voluntary activity than a mandatory field trip but it does discourage suits.
